竹兰县百花山人民公社，有个分水岭生产队，村上有两个亲兄弟，哥哥叫李云龙，弟弟叫李云虎。全国解放前夕，为闹翻身、保卫胜利果实，弟弟参加了解放军，哥哥仍然在村里参加农业劳动。过了十几年，哥哥在分水岭当生产队长，弟弟在部队当指导员。为了支援农业生产，弟弟从部队转业回到了竹兰县。县委本想分配他到公社去工作，但是他觉得自己离开农村太久，对农村情况不了解，要求到生产队当社员。于是县委就把他分配到分水岭生产队去...。In this powerful documentary, Mama Yang, an 84-year-old woman living in New York, finds herself in correspondence with 45 high security prison inmates she views as her own children. Most are Chinese American immigrants, and see in Mama Yang a mother figure they never knew before they stepped through prison walls.
